What is a diverse business?

A diverse business has at least 51% ownership, operation, and control by one or more of members of these diverse groups (e.g., Women, Minority, Veteran, LGBTQIA+)

Diverse supplier definitions

 

Minority Business Enterprises (MBE)

 

African American/Black

A citizen having origins in any of the Black racial groups of Sub-Sahara Africa. Caribbean natives of African descent are also eligible

Asian Indian

A citizen whose origins are from the Asian Indian region. These countries include Bangladesh; India; Indonesia; Nepal; Pakistan; Sri Lanka

Asian Pacific

A citizen whose origins are from the Asian Pacific region including the following countries: Cambodia; China; Guam; Japan; Korea; Laos; Malaysia; the Philippines; Samoa; Thailand; Tibet; Taiwan; the U.S. Trust Territories of the Pacific or the Northern Marianas and Vietnam

Hispanic

A U.S. citizen of true-born Hispanic heritage, from any of the Spanish-speaking areas of South America, and the Caribbean Basin only, Brazilians (Afro-Brazilian, indigenous/Indian only)

Native American

A person who is an American Indian, Eskimo, Aleut or Native Hawaiian, and a registered member of a tribe

 

Disabled Business Enterprise

 

A business which is 51% owned, controlled, operated, and managed by a person(s) with a disability

 

HUBZone

 

A small business (according to SBA standards), owned and controlled at least 51% by U.S. citizens, or a Community Development Corporation, an agricultural cooperative or an Indian tribe, be located within a "Historically Underutilized Business Zone" and at least 35% of its employees must reside in a HUBZone

 

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual (LGBTQIA+)

 

A business with at least 51% owned and operated by LGBTQIA+ individual

 

Small Business Enterprise

 

A small business must meet the SBA size standard, which is usually stated in number of employees or average annual receipts, represents the largest size that a business (including its subsidiaries and affiliates) may be to remain classified as a Small Business Enterprise. Check SBA.gov for current requirements

 

Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB)

 

A company that is at least 51% or more owned and controlled by one or more disadvantaged persons who are socially and economically disadvantaged small businesses

 

Veteran Owned Business Enterprise (VOBE)

 

A company that is at least 51% owned, operated and controlled by a veteran. The Department of Defense issues DD214 to veterans as proof of service

 

Women Owned Enterprise (WBE)

 

Businesses with at least 51% ownership and management by a woman

Our suppliers must strictly comply with laws, provide a safe and healthy work environment, and meet GE’s standards of ethical conduct relating to human rights, a safe and healthy workplace, the fair treatment of workers, environmental protection, resource conservation and meet our quality standards. How to Do Business With GE HealthCare

We welcome suppliers who support our diversity goals. Partners who are agile, and who share and meet our same high demands and quality standards of healthcare manufacturing.

To maintain the integrity of our supplier diversity program, you will need Diversity Certification to confirm ownership, operation and control of your business.
